About UC Merced
The University of California, Merced is the tenth and newest campus in the state. We are located in Merced County, which is in the San Joaquin Valley.
UC Merced prides itself with most of the buildings being LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified or green buildings. The campus motto is Fiat lux, which is Latin for “let there be light.” The first class started in September of 2005 and student enrollment continues to climb each year.
The UC Merced Police Department serves the UC Merced community and associated university property 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The department is a full-service agency. It is dedicated to the safety and security of the campus and surrounding communities.
